Kencove was founded in 1980 in Blairsville, PA by Charles Kendall, a dairy farmer frustrated by the time-consuming and occasionally painful process of working with barbed wire. Charlie recognized the advantages of high tensile wire and wanted to help other farmers recognize this new to the USA product, so began a fence contracting business. As he explored techniques to improve the efficiency of fence building, he discovered crimping wires together was faster and stronger than the usual hand-knotting process. Soon he was manufacturing and selling crimp sleeves, and Kencove Farm Fence Supplies was born! Charlie promoted “Build a Better Fence” mantra then, and that is still what motivates Kencove today.

Kencove’s headquarters is still in Blairsville, PA, but we also have warehouse locations in Earl Park, IN, Peculiar, MO, and Caldwell, ID, as well as, a secondary manufacturing facility in Nevada, MO and a post mill in Eastman, GA. That is a lot of expanding from the small garage where it all began!
